You may have heard about our big news at one of our lunches, or in my Video from the Prez back in August, but soon – very soon – the hard work of your KCDMA Board will be very visible and very cool.
As we launch into 2015, KCDMA will get a refreshed logo and look, a new, clear mission statement, and a much needed new website that is in line with it all, thanks to our new sponsor, REACTOR Design Studio!
Why the refresh? KCDMA was founded in 1948, more than 65 years ago and, believe it or not, our branding hasn’t changed much in that time. On one hand, that’s due to the long-standing power of using data to make better and more effective marketing campaigns. We’re just as strong and powerful now. We have a wonderful history of some of the smartest minds in the marketing business who propel Kansas City be at the forefront of direct marketing.
However, the logo and current website didn’t show off how forward-thinking and impactful today’s KCDMA is. In 2014, we’ve had some of our best lunch program attendance in years, featuring topics and presenters like:
- How the most innovative sports club in the country uses data in loyalty marketing
- Direct marketing insights for startup
- Direct Marketing celeb, Trish Witkowksi from The Fold Factory
- Microsoft/Bing sharing the future of technology in marketing
For the second year in a row, the revamped Direct Marketing Boot Camp in July attracted more than 70 students, professors, and young professionals, eager to learn more about how to use data-driven marketing tactics to drive better results in their business. The 2014 Direct Marketing Symposium in January attracted a sold out 170+ person crowd to see Jib Jab talk email marketing, author and international speaker, Jeff Fromm talk about Marketing to Millennials, and Dairy Queen talk about their cross-channel “Miracle Treat” campaign.
Now, it’s time that our logo and our website represent our innovative, results-focused organization. We’re not ready to reveal it just yet, but keep your eyes on your inbox after the first of the year. If you’re not signed up to receive KCDMA emails, you’d better sign up now to be in the know!
There’s a lot of excitement building around this next step for KCDMA, and we have a great committee to thank for it! Our Website Chair Andrew Booth, Immediate Past President Kirk Chritton, Email Chair Bob Lafferty, and I have been working since June to bring this project to the KCDMA membership and the KC marketing community.
Look out KC… the new KCDMA is coming!
